Don’t throw vapes or pods out with household waste
Vapes, pods or e-cigarettes must never be disposed of in your household rubbish or recycling bins or in street litter bins. Even “disposable” devices need to be handled carefully.
Safe disposal
Vapes have batteries and electronic parts and throwing them in regular bins is dangerous and can lead to fires.
Fires endanger waste workers and the public, but they can also destroy equipment and have a negative environmental impact. 6.3 million vapes and pods are thrown away every week and last year alone there were more than 1,200 battery fires in bin lorries and waste sites across the UK.
Vapes contain a variety of different parts that make them difficult to recycle. Find out below how to safely and responsibly dispose of your vapes and pods.
Where to recycle vapes and pods

Vape Liquids / Juice bottles
The empty bottles can then be recycled in your kerbside recycling
